Richard (Rick) Moffat is the owner of Richard Moffat, Inc., d/b/a Richard Moffat Auction Service. Richard graduated from Gateway College of Auctioneering in 1982. He has been a licensed auctioneer in the State of Missouri since 1983. . Richard’s love of auctioneering grew from weekend trips he took with his grandfather to country auctions around eastern Missouri as a young boy. He perfected his auction chant as he auctioned items to his sisters in the basement of their parent’s home.
Rick and his wife Melanie have made their home in Jefferson City, Missouri, with their two teenage sons, BJ and Nick. Melanie is a licensed attorney and has a private practice in Jefferson City. Rick and Melanie also own and operate a real estate rental business. They have also been involved in other business ventures in the surrounding community.
Rick and Melanie have enjoyed collecting antiques for over 25 years. Their sons have grown up around antiques. The Moffats have antiques present in their home and business office, as well as antique display cases that are used to enhance the sale of antiques and collectibles at auctions.
Richard Moffat is a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Peter Parish in Jefferson City, Missouri, the Missouri Professional Auctioneers Association, and the National Auctioneers Association. Rick has served on the Board of Directors for the Missouri Professional Auctioneers Association (MPAA) for several years in the past, and he is a past President and Vice-President of the MPAA. He has coached American Legion Little League baseball and PALS basketball for his sons’ teams when they were younger. Rick and Melanie have been very active in all of the athletic events, games, school and summer activities in which their sons have participated over the last many years. Their oldest son, BJ, is a senior, and is going to Mizzou next year. .

Matt, was born in Central MO and grew up in a household engaged in the antique business. Weekends spent traveling across mid-Missouri attending auctions and antique shows shaped a deep passion and enjoyment for antiques and selling with the auction method. Upon graduation from the Missouri Auction School in 2001, Matt began working as a ring man and auctioneer for Richard Moffat Auction Service while attending Westminster College in Fulton MO pursuing a B.A. in Political Science. Matt married Missy in 2015, and they have made their home in Jefferson City, MO. Matt enjoys spending time with his family, doing various charity auctions, fly-fishing and sport shooting.
Matt currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Missouri Professional Auctioneers Association and heads the legislative committee. In addition to working as a professional auctioneer for Richard Moffat Auction Service, Matt serves as the Chief of Staff to State Senator David Pearce.
